Sanctions On Iranian Foreign Minister by the US

The US Department of the Treasury has forced sanctions against Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Mr. Javad Zarif.

The sanctions freeze any assets of Mr. Javad Zarif in America, or managed by US entities, the department stated.

“Zarif performs the reckless agenda of Iran’s Supreme Leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei),” Treasury Secretary Mr. Steven Mnuchin mentioned.

Mr. Javad Zarif tweeted the US had imposed sanctions on him as a result of it considered him as a risk to its agenda.

Tensions between the United States and Iran have heightened since the USA last year withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal that targeted to curb Iranian nuclear actions.

There are rising concerns that a lot of recent incidents in the Gulf might result in a military conflict within the important shipping region.

On Wednesday, the US extended waivers which permit Russia, China, and European nations to continue civilian nuclear cooperation with Iran.

White House security adviser John Bolton mentioned on Wednesday that it was a “short 90-day extension”.

“I believe the concept here is we’re watching these nuclear actions very, very closely,” he added.

Mr. Mnuchin described Mr. Zarif as the Iranian “regime’s main spokesperson all over the world.”

“The United States is sending a clear message to the Iranian regime that its current behavior is totally unacceptable.

“At the identical time the Iranian regime denies Iranian citizens’ access to social media, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif spreads the regime’s propaganda and disinformation around the globe through these mediums,” Mr. Mnuchin stated.
